What would happen within your own human understanding if today you discovered that two plus two is now equal to five? You have been taught since childhood that two plus two equals four, and that mathematical fact has been reassured within you countless thousands of times over the years. It would be virtually impossible for anyone, possibly even God Himself, to convince you other wise. There are many things in our own lives which we consider to be unshakable and unchangeable. Not speaking of mathematical equations, but what about certain types of personal, religious or social beliefs we hold dear?
Is everything you believe about yourself, your fellow man, God, the Bible, business, family or religion the absolute truth and nothing but the truth? It is very possible that you and I are not the experts on all things, much less the things we consider ourselves to be experts in. It is good to be knowledgeable and be respected by our peers for our great success and accomplishment in life, but that does not make us absolutely right and without fault. There is only one thing that is able to "break up" our way of seeing life and that is the Lord God Almighty, Creator of all that is seen and unseen, the eternal and great, “I AM.”
It is so clear in my memory of the time I was invited to speak to a small group of young men and women whom were in a three-year life-training program, which focused on discipleship, prayer and the study of scriptures. As we were addressing the issue of breaking out of our own traditional or externally imposed ways of thinking about or viewing life, I made this one comment that radically shook their thinking, “God wants to break you up so He can break in, in order that you can brake out.” He does not want to break you, rather break you up from living, thinking, reasoning, and speaking the way you currently do.

God is interested in breaking up the infinite amount of human reasoning we hold so dear. He so desires to challenge and shatter our own philosophies and beliefs. There is a purpose in this "breaking up" process. The purpose is so that He can break into your old way of living, thinking, reasoning and speaking. When He is able to break in and get past the walls of self-deception and the lies that personally hinder you from seeing and understanding according to His perfect will of liberty and righteousness, that is when you are able to break out and become that person you were created to be. You are that person, to a degree, even right now. My point is, how much more of that person could you become if you were to allow God free passage into every area of your life?
Hebrews 12:25-29 (International Standard Version) “See to it that you do not ignore the one who is speaking. For if they did not escape when they ignored the one who warned them on earth, how much less will we escape if we turn away from the one who is from heaven! At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, "Once more I will shake not only the earth but also heaven." The expression "once more" signifies the removal of what can be shaken, that is, what he has made, so that what cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful and worship God in reverence and fear in a way that pleases him. For our God is an all-consuming fire.”

The more I desire to contemplate the true loveliness of His perfect divine character, the less I should desire to follow my own plans, purposes and pursuits.

God will shake everything that has ever been studied, understood and scientifically justified throughout man’s human existence. We are not the experts, He is. How we see and reason is not how He does. He is flawless and we are not. His ways are perfect and right, unlike our own. It is time that we choose to yield and surrender to the reality of God’s unfailing love for us and towards us. By that I mean, for those who honestly desire to have their hearts challenged by the reality of who God is, their realm of human reality will be shaken. Just as God is preparing the bride and “shaking” the church in these times, He is also preparing you and I. That is a good thing! It will not be naturally comfortable for you or I, but it will be exceedingly rewarding.
So, the next time you are completely convinced you are absolutely right about something you believe, be sure to open yourself up to hear from God. That one thing you have held dear just may be the next thing that will be shaken within you. The instabilities in life are the foundations for God’s unshakable grace to be built within you. When we are weak, He is allowed to manifest His strength! When we permit Him to break in, then we are able to break out. One day we will know the answer to all of the tens of billions of questions about life, but until then He will shake the shakable in order to firmly establish the immovable.
